Hold Ground is a joke

Hello guys,

I have just notice that with the additions of monsters with moves that ignores shields AND hold ground…hold ground is just not usefull anymore.

It’s just insane in PvP. Breaking shield should be one thing, killing an hold ground monster another.

Just 2 cents…

They should remove toxic killer in addition :wink:

Hold ground is still valuable. Most of monsters don’t have piercing moves and most of the time there’s some repercussion, such as high TU and sacrifice.

I disagree. Piercing would be too narrow if it only countered shields.

Frankly, hold ground is incredibly lucky to have had this much of a role in the game in the first place. Even from the game’s launch, it was really jarring just how many monsters had the ability to survive otherwise certain death, especially coming off of a certain other monster game that’s very stingy about what has access to that sort of ability and under what conditions it can happen. Even though shiva is near and dear to my heart, I’m willing to accept whatever hg counter they want to add; I’m sure they’ll get by just fine anyway.

Come and face my team… even if you messecare me in FL.

I’ll show you what hold ground can do… it’s very useful against poison teams( I mean with roaring entrance+ cannibalize)

Can we remove bloodcrave and timestrike please. Awful. AoE attacks too.

What’s wrong with timestrike and bloodcrave. AoE sucks I agree but bloodcrave is good

HG is probably the most readily available counter to bomboid+flocca

Also it counters DR so I agree let’s get rid of it

Anyway you can close this thread if this fun for you. But my intention was serious to make notice that creating more monster and/or moves that bypass hg will just kill this feature, and for me it’s just the case.

I guess if something becomes less effective or efficient, that’s natural. What I’m really against is When it becomes a curse. For example the fact that stun revenge use to be great and now it makes the monster unplayable

This is very true. I have Gryphking, Azrazeal, and Ziberius, all of which I unfortunately choose not to use due to the sheer amount of counters. I dont even play any Stunning Entrance mons save for Sobeking and sometimes Dualdragoon… Stun has so much going against it lol

Here’s the problem with hold ground, it takes an entire extra move in order to kill a threat. An extra move in high level pvp is brutal.

Without hold ground piercing stuff, we end up with shivadragon strategies being dominant because you can force the opponent to hit the same protector over and over again, while you get to execute the strategy that you want behind that impenetrable wall. This was a thing in PvP and is the reason that we have so much piercing these days.

I’m sure most of us weren’t making fun of you, simply bringing forward our views on the matter. I know why you feel that way. Literally every PvP team has piercing in it nowadays.

I was only kidding too. But HG is fine as it does no harm, even if it does become a little redundant

Hold ground does have another weakness that’s often overlooked… they’re free blood fodder. Monsters like Voidress, Revenarchion and Steamhawk are always thrilled to see another opportunity to get that kill they need without the damage they may sorely lack, and an enemy with hg might just be that opportunity for them to start making themselves useful.
