When you kill your own monster that has a revenge skill it shouldn’t “death revenge” my guys. It says REVENGE which means it should go back to the person who killed it. It’s not death enemy monsters. Secondly, RETRIBUTION means to retaliate against something. So again if you kill your own teammate you have nothing to retaliate except yourself. It really needs balancing and a fix to what triggers a retaliation and death revenge.
There death revenge and there payback revenge. Death revenge kills Your opponent monster no matter how your monster die. Payback revenge kills the monster that killed it.

As much as it annoys me. I was like this when I first encountered this bizarre effect. But as others pointed out, it’s just bad naming of skills. Once you realise how backstab works, you won’t let it get you by surprise. Although which monster it kills is still a surprise.
The fact that u can run zib hellfox and trigger both of them by someone cannibalizing themselves is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
