In general this special rule benefits AP spam, strong entrances, high speed monsters, low TU sweeping and generally powerful teams (e.g. mythic spam). It has strategic gameplay as a smaller component because you have less information to work with (some of the most strategic games have all things revealed and it’s a battle of the minds to out manoeuvre the opponent).
Like you say, it would be a drastic change. The things it benefits are pretty much all things the community does not want to see made stronger and most people are here playing the game because they like the strategy elements of it.
Entrances are too far gone for this to be permanent. I have a stun team that hasn’t lost once out of 15 matches simply because the opponent cannot plan accordingly to knowing stun is coming
When they affect both players equally, almost all game mechanics are inherently fair. The problem, therefore, is how they can be taken advantage of(aka consequences)
This rule is pretty funny. I’ve had my fun watching players afraid when attacking cause they don’t know what’s coming next, others attacking with no fear and then getting stunned by surprise. But this is certainly something that can not stand. I see your point, but I think it wouldn’t be good for the game.
Planning your moves is the base of any strategy, and this is a strategy game. Playing blind, taking decisions without knowledge of it’s possible consequences, is exactly the opposite of planning.
As you said, you have 4 monsters (or ladies in bikini). You can’t be prepared for anything with only those 4, so you prepare for what it’s already on the field and what you see is coming next (which in a whole, allows you to imagine the possible following monsters)
This says everything. Go play a few matches and you will probably change your mind
Besides, we only normally see the next entering monster and nothing about all the rest. Imo it would be too RNG if we were blind all the time. However, it’s an interesting concept for a passive and could/should have been used in some boss fights we encountered during the story.
I think it would be very interesting as an occasional twist too!! But I wouldn’t like it if it was the norm. Entrance control is something I think is core to the game, I’d prefer if it remained.
