I am a beginner player and need assistance with monster selection. Having inadvertently purchased Icefang earlier… I am now torn between A.S. Posiedon and Ashtrahasis. Should I consider Deshicyon or Flocculasarusas instead?

I’d say Atrahasis is the best shop legendary for PvE. For PvP Poseidon is better especially if you get the shop SE A.S Myst and it pairs well with AS Breaker and Fokus too.
However, the AS strategy is a bit underpowered these days, still pretty usable though!
Hanzowolf is also great value for PvE because you can pretty easily get 3 kills with it.
Otherwise I would do as MrX says and wait to get 80 tickets for awakening Soral or Nophiam.

Unfortunately I bought posiedon last night … Now I will try to collect 80 tickets … Maybe it will take me 2 years but I will do it … hopefully I will not stop playing until then … hopefully..

The entire point to reach 80 tickets is to obtain a mythic from the shop. By the time you reach 80 tickets something new might have been released so you can grab it or take one of the powerful ones in the shop already. Usually a mythic shop gets released once a year around new year time
Mythics are significantly stronger than legendaries, legendaries get nerfed quite often and receive significantly higher nerfs than mythics
Not only that mythics are much stronger but legendaries in the shop are pretty outdated, pretty much no legendary in the shop makes it to higher pvp
