SPOILERS AHEAD for all offline story episodes and the 8 chapters of online story

Offline story (until becoming champion):
Your Uncle Hector is seen as a traitor. He became the grand champion but then attacked the emperor and was killed. You aim to follow in his footsteps by becoming the greatest trainer and bring honour back to your name, but on a personal note to talk to Beritus and find out what really happened. When you finally become champion Beritus tells you that the emperor is actually possessed by the monster Atrahasis and your task as grand champion is to train up monsters for Atrahasis to feed on. You decide to battle Atrahasis and beat it, saving the emperor. You find out that Hector didn’t actually die, he actually saved the princess from Atrahasis but wasn’t able to save the emperor. He had to flee and the possessed emperor is who branded him as a traitor. You want to clear your Uncle’s name but it’s been too long that they’d rather keep everything hidden, especially the fact that the emperor has been possessed for ages.

Offline post-story (the episodes):
People from another planet invade and you fight them off. After beating their generals they say they’re impressed by the skills of the trainers on this planet so they will take the best ones for an inter-planetary monster battle competition. If you don’t go they’ll kill everyone (and if you hadn’t impressed them they would’ve killed everyone). You then perform in this competition and as planet’s teams are beaten their planet is being destroyed. The competition is all to discover which planet has the strongest trainers so they’ll be forced to join in their army.

You join a group of rebels and follow this big plan to take them out from the inside. One thing leads to another and there are twists (you meet their queen near the end who actually seems quite decent) then ultimately their prototype super weapon made to be the most effective way to destroy planets, Maggatsuoh, gets unleashed. You beat it and they’re all indebted to you, so you make them promise to not go killing people and destroying more planets. After returning home the princess (who was held captive throughout the whole ordeal) decides it’s time to tell the truth about Hector and let everyone know he’s a hero, not a traitor. The invasion and threat of the planet being destroyed put everything in perspective, it wasn’t a big deal any more. So he’s then heralded as a hero and you are even more so, with nothing tarnishing your name any more and you just saved everyone.

Side note: Hector visits you at various points, even talking to you and battling you in the Showdown Tower event but he decides to remain mysterious and out of the lime light.

Online story (the chapters):
Here you do a lot of time travel with the help of a mad professor. You’re chasing around a villain and beating his henchmen who are collecting the first ones. If they collect them all it will supposedly bring about the end of the world. Along the way you find out you come from a long line of powerful and kind trainers (always the ginger people). Ultimately you find out that the first ones combined together can open a portal back to the original human world (Earth) and bring “the black beast”, which has the power to destroy all worlds. It’s been contained on that one planet. However, it turns out the “villain” was not a villain at all (you’re probably even related - he’s ginger) and he was getting the first ones together so he could try to go and defeat the black beast with them (the first ones are the most powerful monsters, so that’s how he stands the best chance). The black beast was already going to escape eventually, so the right choice is to defeat it. You team up with him and go to Earth.

While on Earth you find out the monsters were originally made there as ways to help individuals or society. Where it all went wrong is they developed a monster to clean up all the pollution in the sea… Delugazar (aka the black beast). They gave it the power to control other monsters and gave it great intelligence. Instead of cleaning up the sea it decided to remove the root cause… humans. Since it could control all the monsters things got out of hand way too quickly and the humans had to evacuate the planet. Delugazar has the power to warp space-time so the scientists did something like lock Earth in its own dimension. The humans who evacuated spread out to distant planets but were unable to take knowledge and technology with them so after a few generations lost all proper knowledge of their history and instead created their new civilisations. Our planet is one of these and it’s why there are ruins of spaceships in the land. It’s also why in the offline post-story there are loads of inhabited planets and they have each retained/built different technology. Anyway, basically we defeat Delugazar and save the universe. End of story.

Other stories:
These are all pretty self-contained, featuring some characters from the main storylines and some new ones. There are a few references to other bits but usually they’re all about travelling to some previously unknown location and resolving a local issue.

I only read this after writing that post above, lol. Sorry but I don’t remember specifics about what happens in the various chapters, details about the characters and all that stuff. I did it about 5 years ago.

I think in general the chapters are very slowly drip feeding you the overall online story meanwhile doing self contained stories within each time period you’re travelling to (each chapter is a different time period). Chapter 7 and chapter 8 are where the main bulk of the story is explained and comes together.

Thanks KD :open_mouth:
