Hello NM community, this is Krispy Bacon. I’ve been following the forum for years (without an account) and finally decided it was time to interact + share some thoughts. I know there was a thread from years ago discussing monster design, but I wanted to share some of my favorites as well as hear others’ opinions too! I have been hatching primarily off “design” for years and just got into PvP this year. It has been fun trying to compete with a slightly more unique team. I run LINK Storm because Storm has some of my favorite designs (yes, I am biased). Also, I’m not into the waifu as much, but NM keeps releasing them, so apparently I’m in the minority on that one.
Side note - I’ve had the opportunity to play many of you in PvP and have really enjoyed a lot of close matches (although sometimes I just get smoked lol).
For me, “design” mostly incorporates looks, but I know others would factor move set and/or chemistry into “design.” However, even if I really like the looks of a monster, it won’t be considered a favorite if the move set isn’t fun to play with. Feel free to share some of your favorites as well as why they are your favorite! And feel free to comment if you disagree! I love a good debate. My top 7 monster designs:
- Runeconqueror & Runedragon:
-Runeconqueror is my favorite looking monster, with Runedragon not far behind.
-Polymerization (sacrificing Lordsreign) is such a fun reward if you can pull it off.
- Cypridrus
-It’s a golden dragon mythic, is there more to say?
-Passives Excessive Force and Warp Field II are useful as well.
- Kuraokami
-I love dragons and I love ice/snow, so this is a perfect combo.
-Move set is meh for the most part, but Avalanche is sneaky.
- Hawknight
-The design has grown on me a lot, especially as a LINK Storm player. Love the detail.
-Secret skill doesn’t quite guarantee free shields for the team, but at 81% speed and stun immunity, there’s a pretty good chance. Plus you have the option to stun or protect too.
- Ankoudragon
-A monster I always wanted but couldn’t seem to hatch for years.
-Now a staple in PvE for me.
- XYZ-999L
-A unique design for an all important Storm stun absorber.
-Mixed feelings about the secret skill Ion Field III, but I live and die by it at the moment.
- The Penguinator
-Love it or hate it in PvP, the design is pretty sweet.
-LINK Double Retribution and Slayerbane All are a dangerous combo to put on the same monster.

, even though in PvP it’s a very difficult monster to get due to the conditions that Polymerize has.
We are both lovers of Cypidrus so I think we will get along
