Love this feature, but could you actually make it possible it fight the matches? I’d love to try new teams.
And maybe even add the first part of the story where you are yet to become the grand champion?

A great place to test teams is in PvP -> test your team. That puts you against unbuffed opponents, or super buffed opponents (like UC). If you want to face some buffed PvE then a place I like to use for that is the biweekly missions (the bottom ones). Just quit before finishing those fights and you can redo them over and over. Across the last 3 fights or so it gives a nice selection of battles to choose from as testing.
Not all of my teams are viable, some I just make for fun, and since they removed difficulty levels from test your team I have some issues with testing. Besides I’d like to see how my new weird teams do compared to my old top team.
I agree I was hoping I would be able to do these matches again since it’s been a long time
