They opened Pandora’s box by releasing a ton of stuff with instant death moves which was already problematic because these kind of monsters require literally 0 skill to use as you can just click and kill. Since from a game design pov the current en vogue thing to do is not to directly nerf stuff but to introduce counters to the meta death immunity was almost certain to happen. However, it’s a massive problem when more than half of the games content revolves around PvE content that relies on heavy buffs to create a challenging experience for players. instant death moves are often the only way to reliably kill a heavy buffed monster.
Next thing to happen are instant death skills that ignore death immunity. It’s almost certain.
By the way @Dev_VKC that nerf on nagandia didn’t touch her at all , I saw the same team many time Wich mean you guys failed to address a proper nerf to her and since you tried to nerf it you are aware that she is oppressive with that dunt being able to be used from the start of the Battle and ignoring stealth , increasing the tu cost of dunt wasn’t the appropriate choice but you should have added a 100 tu restriction
Yes. Because we do not want to stop that strategy, only make it cost more, that is what we aimed for. she is strong, but we don’t see her frontline used absolutely more than others. if we nerf her, other powerful frontlines will simply replace her.
What we are doing is presenting many equally powerful frontlines or combos, and players can decide which one they want to run to create a diverse environment. for example, we have Crystal Worm, Mortilys, Pirate team, etc. this is also the reason we buffed Zephyramus this time. its combo is also quite unique compared to others.
For the monsters that can work on their own (fitting into any team), we will use the Limited List to force players to make a choice.
1- thaLazaar got the astra treatment as predicted he went from F tier to S+, hes basically unkillable and can only be taken out with void otherwise your risking losing the game.
2-Zephy is a monster i dislike, the buff will not change him much
3- noircyon got a good buff but powercreep is way too ahead he will stay where he is no one will use him,
4-OphidIator is an interesting one, the skill set is strong on this one but the speed is what kills this monster, so he enters at 35 speed spends 60+ to get his babies and each baby will have a speed of 35 and would need to sacrifice himself to revive the full awakend that enters at 35 speed, the lose in tempo is huge i dont see him being played for this revive thing
5- onyxia needed more, the powercreep is way ahead and this buff will not be sufficient enough to see game play at the top
6- as for the super epics i wish you didnt buff them, what you have done is a waste of time, my guess is that you need to complete your timesheet and had idle hours so you decided to get some chargable hours working on these super epics without making any useful in pvp
overall update: its one of the candidates for the worst updates of the year
I was also suprised that vip rewards where not updated this time around, i would have thought you would update them before anniversary, but i guess you dont want to update them before anniversary so players buy more gems during anniversary
That’s the reason why mr.x is goat unlike one licker. It’s like u have leg problem and doctor ended up with eye surgery.Ik further complaining is just making fool of oneself.
This update is full of very interesting things in my opinion. Most is very good stuff and then there’s one very bad thing… which I’ll start with.
Thalazaar
The buff seems ridiculous. It seems like a huge oversight that the revived copies also make copies. We thought Astrajlyth, Pandora and Medusa were silly for requiring void to face them but this is on a whole other level. I think the splitting into two when it dies is a cool mechanic for this specific case, but it’s been a recent focus in design to make monsters that revive/copy/etc. and I think it’s getting overused.
Zephyramus
Speeding itself up seems very cool and very scary. I’ve always loved this SS and it might encourage some fun line-ups.
Noircyon and Ophidiator
These are the biggest wins from this update in my opinion.
Noircyon getting a speed buff just like I always wanted is obviously something I like. It should be legitimately good now, although I feel it will take people a long time to realise it.
Ophidiator I find a little funny because I guess this is the solution rather than having it wait for enough reptiles to enter the game. It’s a very cool idea to make those babies proper threats. It turns a monster that was fine but outclassed into something very fun. It’s now even better for reptile teams, which benefits that archetype greatly.
Polymerization
This is another big win from the update. Dullakhan + Nightmare immediately becoming Nightrider is going to excite a lot of new players. It’s probably still best to go with the OoO plan because it gives you time to set up Nightrider and maybe survivor on teammates but you’re no longer forced to play it that way. Also Runedragon can easily turn into Runeconqueror, which should be great in PvE and a lot of fun in PvP. This is already a popular monster so I expect to see people trying this out.
Sleep
It seems like sleep took a sneaky nerf in this update. Either that or sometime a while back and it was never said. Sleep all on legendaries used to be 35% but now it is standardised at 30% for all monsters and Soulstealer can regain that higher chance with a shadow phantom teammate. Noircyon also getting insomnia, just like so many other mythics have been given over time, shows a clear effort to keep sleep heavily in check. I’m not sure exactly where I stand on that, but it’s probably necessary and I’d rather the developers being aware of this stuff than letting it add to the pile of balance problems.
Super Epic buffs
These have changed some of the weakest SEs that exist (the sleep all ones), so it’s cool to see them redesigned. Velocirex was mentioned above but I think that’s one of the worst. Rushslice alone is not enough on a monster.
My favourites are Lunaverios and Magmalathian. Lunaverios can synergise with any death sentence and/or OoO (Atlanachia, Luminalus, Onyxia, Soulstealer) and Magmalathian is our first link fire 250s megabomb which should be a useful PvE tool (e.g. Whale’s Treasure).
Terrorex might also be a viable addition to a reptile team. However, if link gets broken then it becomes dead weight so it would need to be the back of a team or in more specific setups.
Seriously thanks for make that runeconquerror can use in pvp now ,Thanks very moch was update very good and happy changes I enjoy witch runeconquerror in pvp
I hadn’t tested poison sting before making my post above. Holy moly, it’s a strong move now! Scorpionite might be a serious choice for people to play with
i have no idea why you say they are winners, lets be real with ourselves for once,
1- would you roll for Noircyon or Ophidiator
2- if you managed to obtain them, would you run them in your best version team ?
3- do you think they stand a chance against the new powercreep ?
4- is there is a scenario where they actually will be better than running other top tier mythics ?
In all the answers its a no, even in the best case scenario for them there will always be a better mythic in that spot, and its not only them the list goes on for many mythics, either they are slow for todays pvp or provide no control upon entrance
Slow monsters should be able to compensate for the speed by providing control.
