Alright so i noticed that a lot of people have missed this message from Admin because i see a lot of people asking about whats happening to the game and this post Admin made explains a bunch of the questions as to what they are working on and why things are taking a while.
So if you missed the topic Admin made here it is :
And for those of you wondering… we are looking at the forums! You will see that when you see the monsters we have prepared for the next game But admittedly, we have been very lazy about being interactive lately. We were (until very recently) a 4 man team, so making a new game, moving to a new engine, preparing an update, and running events has been really keeping us busy. Not that interacting with players is any less important, but we just haven’t had the time.
Good news is, we are expanding (6 man team starting March) so more stuff will be done faster! Meanwhile, I’m usually on chat when the mission goes out so if you want to chat with me you are welcome to find me there!
Hi Ryan, I bolded that part because it caught my attention. Does that mean that you are no longer working/expanding HI? Your team is solely focusing on a NEW game? HI is done for now + just releasing new arks every week?
We are doing both at the same time. But to be honest we are unlikely to do a story update on HI. Work on HI will be on stuff you can do over and over again like PvP, events etc. We were planning at fist to do a huge content upgrade, and we were working on that… until we decided to turn that into a new game since the changes were little too great for it to make sense as an update.
Mostly multiplayer stuff! Yeah story updates would have been great but sadly even with the current length of the game, a typical player beats it in 9 days. So adding couple hours of new story for it to be consumed in a day or two didnt make sense economically. But that is because of the overall game design of Hunter Island, it being an ordinary single player RPG with focus on completing the story. Thats what led us to working on a sequel.
Ok so can stop going to ID now haha (not that i was thinking that I was gonna keep going)…
Also can stop collecting more than 1 of the same arks as no much point…
Is there any way we can get some progress/monsters or some advantage transferred to the new game if we do decide to play?
I am a bit disappointed with this but at least it’s clear now, probably wouldn’t have pvp-ed as much to get kami & farmed for weeks to get all S rank arks if I knew…
So Ryan, is there any way you can consider any sort of progress carrying over? I’m sure most people would like that. I’m also aware that it’s not an extremely easy thing to do, but I do ask you to consider it.
Perhaps it could almost be like DIB where you have to touch a thingy, type a thingy and get a thingy (very descriptive). Heck it could just be a throwback to the game for all I care. Like maybe people in the taverns talk about “distant lands” with “monsters”… Idk throwbacks are always good
I agree that a story update should not be a high priority. The update to DIB was good, but the appeal to me in HI is the pvp. The only problem with talking about a sequel (even though, I would be interested) is that it will limit expenditures on the existing game. The longer term success of HI is the pvp and making new players feel they are not completely outclassed by the long time players…
Yeah its not quite a sequel (prob the wrong word to describe it, as its pretty different), but thats pretty much the reason we kept it kind of low for now to be really honest. I believe HI pvp can do just what you described with the use of ELO(strength based matchmaking) and the patches we are preparing.
