I haven’t played at all so I didn’t get any of the goodies from pvp rewards but I had lots of fun when I didn’t face the really overpowered awakened mythics.
Here is what I used: (feel free to judge me, don’t mind some insight) (also lemon, don’t look at my team, your blood pressure will rise once you look at them)

My point is that you talked him out to be some kind of saint fighting against the mythic oppression, where in reality when you look at his team he’s just using all the top tiers he can find, and with frankly very little strategy behind.
How’s that any different than spamming mythics?!
This is a more unique team for example, however there are a few counter synergies you could fix:
- Toxic Entrance countering your own Bitterbeast, Nox, and sometimes Nova’s Hold Ground. I get that you can purify at 96 speed, but your opponent can put those monsters at 1hp and finish them with your own entrance.
- Bastia countering your own Flutterdrake’s Shield Entrance
- Dusicyon’s Shield Field not doing anything. I get that you can summon with Canishogun and that shadow robot guy, but then you wouldn’t have access to RAW Confident Strike. Plus Scorpiogeist would likely counter it with Autopoison All anyway.
I think if you’d take the time to fix some issues with your team you could easily beat the more “brainless” whales. You have some very strong monsters.

What are you talking about? Loads of strategy there! It’s called mad aggression + stun immunity, Dusicyon + S+ in the mid-game, tranquilising entrance for the RNG win and Moku 200+ IQ finish… 
In all seriousness, LDN TiO OoO is running what a lot of other people run. No disrespect to him at all but here’s how it goes…
S+, S+, S+, S+, S+, S+, C, S, S+, S+, 1 cost stun absorber, S-, S, A, S+, throw fodder
The C is a stun immune sweeper, improved by Dusicyon
The A is a stun immune which can pullback Sobeking or give turn to Moku
The only real synergy comes in Dusicyon making Wraithhost more viable, the Nulltron + Raizen into Malwing being stun archetype so helping each other and the Serazael supporting the two monsters around it. Other than that it’s stun immune aggression + shields with a bit of RNG later hoping for the win. It’s the kind of “good stuff” team that does very well in most metas but not particularly inspiring or interesting. It can definitely take on the teams full of mythics like you say.
