I just got slaughtered by one of the coolest teams I've come across. Care to share some of your PvP stories? (Part 1)

Thanks to you too! I think I will fare better in the second half of PvP, my LINK water frontline needs Esapizeron and Nebelronix… I miss them :sob:.

As of now, I am losing a lot, but the positive side is that my team is constantly changing, I hope, for the better. Your team, for instance, made me reconsider the placement of my stunners throughout the team.

Yes, Scorpiogeist is such a team carrier… Almost all the wins I had up until now we’re because of Stun Converter Scorpiogeist + Stun Immune Maggatsuoh. Instant Poison Typhoon combined with RAW poison moves is still insane, no matter the speed.

I had a 50% winrate but then I decided to put stun converters at the start and rolled scorpiogeist lol

Nomo winks u making me blush

As i said in the video. I seen it in a match against KD which helps me think of it

I relly have a bad luck in pvp my rockoids are trolling me :persevere::persevere::persevere::persevere:

With regards to the talk of how to win, I think it’s widely accepted there are three factors:

  • In-game decision making
  • Monster collection
  • Team building

The importance of those relative to each other has always been debated. I’d say they’re in the order I list above. I think it’s easy for old timers / big spenders to gloss over the need for a collection of good monsters, but that for me comes above team building. Even with a badly made team, if there are good monsters in it and you can make good decisions then you can do pretty well. However, of course team building is one of the three big factors and you need to have a strong team to do really well.

I know you didn’t mean any disrespect when talking about Urpetrax’s bad decision making in that second battle. However, it would’ve been good to point out where he made the mistake. I can’t remember the match exactly now but to me it was basically one very clear mistake and not really anything else. He did stun boom with his Cybereon rather than sendback, giving a turn to your Infernicorn so it could attack boost before attacking (otherwise it couldn’t attack boost first and wouldn’t be able to kill Angelion/Leogeist). He was already down on monsters and had Whitetitan coming in soon that would give turn to a stunned monster so that one stun boom made him lose 3 monsters plus one of the two stunned monsters got a turn given to it anyway. It’s always a difficult subject to approach when analysing a match but I think it would be best if you pointed out it was that mistake rather than saying something more general like “Urpetrax has good monsters but his decision making is still not good”, as you did.

I think you’re right that decision making is the skill the playerbase most needs to improve in order to have more people competitive at the top level. However, it’s also the hardest skill to get in the game, especially in PvP when you’re battling another human’s mind. Neo Monsters is incredibly complicated and many of us hit our limits in terms of what we can do mentally. I regularly make brash decisions to kill monsters I don’t need to then lose matches due to bringing in too many threats, even when I know it’s a bad choice to kill something.

With more good PvP videos out there and coming from a larger number of people I’m sure some people who are keen to get better at PvP will watch them and improve their decision making. Thanks for your part in creating some PvP content for that!

I do horrible decisions sometimes and cost me matches, but I want to point something important, sometimes the best decision is not clear to see, neither easy to take. So I will step up with KD and say that a mistake is different from poor decision making. (I used stun with Sakuralisk in the field against @Josuinho ahahahaha that was epic).
And I want to point another thing about the order listed by KD before, in my personal opinion having a perfect decision making doesn’t save you from fighting with a decent player with a huge collection. So to me all the three factors listed have the same importance. Decisions - Collection - Team Building. Whatever you lack of those in higher tiers have a huge impact.

It’s literally the same thing. Just because you overlooked a stun protection on the field and used it, doesn’t mean it is not a poor decision making. It is.

Nope is a mistake due to distraction. There is a huge difference.

Perhaps different kinds of decision making? Not making careless errors and being able to find the best way to beat your opponent seem different but also in the same category.

I will be honest, I tend to do much more mistakes when I am tense and with top players that happens very often to me. But when I can think clearly I can take very good decisions in almost no time. Is different for each of us.

Yes but making a mistake is a decision ,a bad decision, but still a decision

That’s true but when you talk about decision making you mean the all skill, not particular situations.

Decision making is in particular situation because in those situation some ppl may make one decision where another makes another.making mistakes is ok everyone does and decision making is influenced by experience and by skills of course where someoen knows how to act in a situation because he has already seen it like someone playing against the same team he will do different decisions depending on his new knowledge that’s why in strategy games against ppl surprise is important to take your opponent on unknow land where making mistakes is easier for your opponent. in one game i played ppl were fighting and I specialised myself in fighting in water terrains where people had difficulty to move if not having the equipment and also i used a crossbow and wild animals to inflict damage to ennemies.I say all that to say that Decision making is even more important in particular situation because skills come from knoledge and thus decision making.if a decision gives good result then we will say thats a good to do and this is how to get skills

You guys should know what DonT meant.

Yes, technically it’s a poor decision when somebody uses stun when a stun counter is on the field. But it’s VERY different when somebody does it accidentally because they are rushing. As opposed to somebody doing it intentionally.

I agree there are two different types of decision making. One is the usual one with finding the best moves to make in a given situation and the other is not choking under pressure.

Using stun with a stun counter against, using SBA on enemies without a kill, using poison eater on non poisoned enemies. In 99% of cases those things are catalogued as mistakes or lack of knowledge. In the remaining 1% is intentional: example using stun to give turn to uncharged angelion and constrict him to AoE or PA

I’ve made horrible mistakes when rushing.
