So I have an issue about socks. So sometimes when I’m putting on my socks, they don’t fit on my feet just right and some of my toes feel uncomfortable as a result. This has been happening for most of the years of my life.
I heard from some other person that this problem is caused by the socks being stretched by my feet during the day. Even though the pairs of socks were made so each sock was equal, they could be stretched to fit either the left foot or right foot better over time if they were worn unequally by chance. Socks are not made to have a specific side they go on. That means the socks could get swapped and it’s hard to tell the difference until I put it on. Sometimes I have to switch the socks to opposite feet to get them to fit right. The worst predicament for me is when I have both right side socks and no left side socks or both left side socks and no right side socks.
While I initially had no hope for finding a complete solution for my sock problem, I came up with a solution at 2am after forgetting to take my sleep meds. Because the socks are usually unable to be identified for which side they go on before putting them on, I can gather all my socks and write which side they fit better on them. This way I can always ensure each pair of socks will have a left and a right sock, and I also won’t have to deal with having them on the wrong foot.
I would like to hear everyone’s thoughts on my solution to socks and socks in general.

The best solution is anarcho-primitivism. Free yourself from the coil of humanity and finally return to monke. There will be no problems anymore, only banana.
And remember:
Use ankle socks, don’t stretch them too much. Write right and left under each one of them to distinguish.
Also, while storing them in your cupboard, put one piece of the pair inside the other sonthat the pair remains together.
If you don’t wanna do this, then change your fashion to wear loafers or some good formal sneakers that don’t require socks.
I’m waiting for the follow-up post where he discovers that after going through a wash some of his “right socks” feel better on his left foot and vice versa… he’ll be pushed to insanity.
On a serious note @NMEduck I had trouble with socks a lot while I was growing up. My feet grew at an alarming speed when I was age 10-12 and at the same time I was doing a lot of martial arts. The strain I put my feet through while they were in this stage caused the arches of my feet to collapse terribly. It actually caused a knock on effect to twist my knees (badly) and my hips (a little). If I hold my knees straight my right foot goes out at roughly 20 degrees while my left foot is 45 degrees. My feet tend to wreck any shoes I wear so I have to get a size bigger than I should.
Going back to socks… I always used to hate the way they felt on my toes, too tight on the big toe and too loose on the little toe. In the end my solution was simple… I bought higher quality socks that felt wonderful no matter what then when I put them on I make sure they’re not pulling too much on the big toe and mostly fitting on the little ones.
Your martial arts problem could be solved by cutting a part of the edge of your socks from thumb and the other from the last finger. It really feels comfortable. But take care of your shoes or else your fingers may itch.
