How Far Did You Get in Showdown Tower

This thread is to have a record of how far a player gets in Showdown Tower event without losing, and when they lose, what it is they lost to, and what they used to play.

For my run of Showdown Tower, I went with a Link Dark FL as I recently hatched Novadrake from the Anniversary egg. As you can see from my team lineup below, the FL is very aggressive and fast paced and the midgame is good at mounting comebacks, but I currently lack any good endgame monsters so the latter third of my team is where things start to fall apart. I used @LemonSqueezy player guide for team building in this event as I don’t have a whole lot of top tier PvE monsters yet, so I went with a PvP style team that accounts for common mistakes I know the CPU controlled teams make. As is obvious, my FL has 2 monsters that are not yet evolved as I lack the material.

I was surprised at how well I was able to do in the Showdown Tower on my first run through, still being an infant account below HR 100, and was quite happy with the ease I was able to run through not only opposing player teams, but also Legendary Trainer teams. I got spooked on the 8th floor when I ran into (Eliana I think?) The Legendary Trainer with a Thlug team as it’s one I’ve had trouble with in previous accounts, but Stellarscale and Noxdrake (buffed by Demontoad) we’re able to make quick work of the team. I got even more spooked when the next door has Jack Verosia (I believe?) With a team comprised of almost all awakened Mythics. Once again, I was able to power through and made it with 6 monsters remaining. I was on a roll and had hit a 50 win streak! I was confident.

Then, the unfortunate happened, and I didn’t even account for it. I faced Legendary Trainers Abe and Ben, the holders of The Godfather and The Penguinator, respectively. I thought this would be an easy battle when I saw the FL for Abe and started running through his team. The Legendary Trainer buffs at this floor stopped my Stellarscale and Noxdrake from making a big enough dent, and they got taken out with poison revenge early on. Not good. I ended up making it through Abes team with my midgame where I had about 8 monsters left, felt good about it. Then it had me go against Ben’s team with the remnants of what I had left - minus my Twighoul, Torrentide, and Sneak Attack Dragon (can’t remember the name right now lol) clones. Not a good sign.

Still, I was able to work my way through the team till he was down to 5 monsters and I had 4, but I had kills and Bloodthirsts going on, so no issue right? Wrong… The Penguinator showed up, and my Solo Bloodthirst from Scarleguard hit an Auto Protect rock instead of the Peng, and Slayerbane All ruined my win streak.

All in all, I had a great experience and it was fun seeing how far I could get with a team I through together without the conventional monsters considered top tier PvE.

How far did you get/have you gotten without a lose this Showdown Tower? Share below and discuss

Yeah I’m aware, just the fact being I don’t have a whole lot of great PvE mons yet with a few exceptions, I figured I’d go with a PvP style team lol

you have torrentide. only PvE mon you need for 70% of PvE. XD

The one thing i miss about the old tower, before the consecutive win gem bonus, is using whatever pve team i wanted with the only consequence for losing being tickets lost. Now i have to play around aurodragon
nova enrage and similar teams if i want to keep my win streak going. I do enjoy the extra gems however.

Don’t I know it lol. Torrentide has near single handedly won me all the First One events.

Now I know all your Armageddon secrets

Nice job! I just hatched Harleking so I’m gonna get him second form and build an endgame around him.

This is the team I use for Showdown Tower. It hasn’t lost any battles for the last few times the event is out. The core of the team has been the same for many years, but I’ve tweaked it by adding new monsters that I’ve hatched. For example, Dracorosa used to be in the FL instead of GF Jasmine. Also, I had a different setup to Brynhildr before I had her awakened.

I won’t break down the whole team, basically it’s got a lot of aggression and control with many different ways to beat the enemy team and deal with what I might encounter. It’s also generally a collection of top PvE monsters.

Thank you for sharing your team.

I cannot rebuild it because I’m missing 6 important monsters from this team, but it gives me ideas how to improve my own team.

Managed to beat the event without any losses for the first time! I definitely deserved it after I had to beat Jenna’s full Mythic team  That was the toughest spot in my run for sure, had to think every move very carefully.

For those wondering why Chronox is there: I normally use this team for SCB and such where he’s more useful but even in the higher levels he was helpful in clearing stealth or finishing off a low hp monster!

She’s a tough one but Okkult is the big bad boss! He was the big hurdle for me the first time.

It’s nice that you managed to achieve this right before you put Aurodragon in all your PvE teams and discovered how much easier it makes things!

Oof, glad I didn’t run into Okkult then

I didn’t have time yet to test and make an Auro team but will definitely try it out in the upcoming UC :slightly_smiling_face:

Okkult is easier than jenna. the twins are annoying too.

Finished the showdown tower for the first time , hail to aurodragon , novadrake and lifedeath dragon that i got lately , they were the main reason , now only dungeon challenge remain

I think that probably speaks to your team more than anything. Jenna has a bunch of mythics but they’re easily controlled, e.g. remove Sakuralisk at the beginning and they’re open to stun or there are a number of other things you can do. Okkult has every monster as tholid… things like death revenge make it slightly easier but a lot of PvE strategies have a very hard time.

Showdown Tower is by far my favorite event. It lets me use whatever team I want, you meet cool characters and guys like Okkult, Jenna or Ursus make the win streak a challenging achievement.

After my game crashed on floor 4 I had a very fun time trying out my new arachnodrake. He’s one of the most fun PvE monsters I have played in a very long time. With the PvP meta being one nightmare followed by the other this was the first time I actually enjoyed the game since quite some time.

I’ve been using the 2nd form and even that is very useful. I’m probably going to awaken him down the line too!

I also liked Showdown Tower a lot this time around. 1.3-1.5x buff is imo the perfect sweet spot for PvE where the game becomes more challenging but not ridiculous and unfair like in UC.

I will release a video soon. The SS is a blast in PvE.

In terms of UC: I don’t think it’s unfair as there’s still a few reliable ways to beat the teams but it’s super limiting. Basically you have a pool of like 20 monsters and you either own them or you can’t compete. That’s what I meant with the “it let’s me use what I want” point
