Phone overheating and battery with 60FPS

60 frames per second is a brilliant upgrade to the game which makes it look incredible and feel very smooth. However, it can cause some overheating and battery issues for phones, especially the older models.

My phone is a Huawei p9 lite which, I believe, is quite a good one but not at the top-end of the scale. When I play Neo Monsters since the update my phone begins to overheat after 1.5+ hours of non-stop gameplay and over 2 hours it gets very hot. I notice that this doesn’t happen if I have my phone out of my case, but I don’t want to be doing that every time. Additionally, when charging my phone at the same time as playing the phone can get very hot very quickly so I have to periodically close the app for a bit and definitely take the case off my phone.

As for battery life, my phone is incredibly good and lasts many hours so it hasn’t bothered me that the app now drains a bit more battery. However, for other phones they may have noticed this a lot more.

Is it possible that there can be the option to change between 30fps and 60fps in the settings? This would be good for anyone who has overheating/battery issues when they’d like to play for an extended period of time, play while charging or need to preserve their battery life. This option in the settings could even restart the app if that’s necessary.

We plan to add an option to revert back to the original 30fps in the next update.

Great, thanks very much for this and the fast reply!

I second what Killerdog said. Huawei Honor 8 lite, did not overheat before update, overheats now.

honor 6x. ( third Huawei user. yay) never noticed the overheating. as kd said my battery is also good so really don’t care. but I have another issue with sd card storage. when I run the game from the sd card after adoptable storage, the files keep disappearing. I did make a separate thread on that.

Sorry I’m not sure if I can help with this but some apps don’t work well when stored on the SD card. If you can store other stuff on the SD card and keep NM in phone storage would that solve the problem do you think?

I merge it with internal storage. maybe I will delete the app, merge stories and then reinstall

so i just noted that my phone is overheating after only 30-45 mins and battery life is horrible. i have a 3340 battery which used to lat me a whole day. not anymore. also regarding the option to switch, whats the difference between 30 and 60 FPS. really didnt notice
