DIB and HI are better, though
I played Hunter Island (I wish I played Dragon Island Blue) and while HI has a better overworld, I think everything else is done better by Neo Monsters. Monster design (with some exceptions I disagree with), lore, combat system, level of challengeā¦

I think that the neomon lore is just HI, but different names. As a huge fan of HI, Iāve played dozens of times, and it is very similar. Also, they just reused lots of assets, which is weird. The new neomon are just awsome(or just humans), but they arenāt unique, charming, complex, or anything else that I liked about the HI or DIB monsters/arkadions. Also, in HI and DIB, you could actually catch most of the good monsters, you didnāt just have to spend money on eggs
Imho Hunter Island was Humanism and Renaissance, while Neo Monsters is the Baroque age.
HIās designs are simple and original, Iād say more inspired as they match the monstersā movesets.
In NM, the sprites got reused and the respective monsters got movesets that hardly fit their design (Flarevern and Stormloch come to mind). Plus, almost all the higher rarity monsters got an additional, final evolution.
Some of those evolutions are cool (like The Godfeather, Shadowhunter, Celestrion, Archseraph, Giraverdant) but some others I feel can be considered overly complicated (Tezladragon, Blizzheart, Dragaia).
Though, all in all, the design in Neo Monsters are pure eye bleach and perfectly resonate with my tastes. A shame the sprites of the OG monsters didnāt go hand to hand with their moveset. A real shame.
I also feel like the moves in HI were more diverse. In HI, duplicate moves are rare, whereas in Neomon, unique moves are rare. It makes everything feel so much more watered down.
To be fair, some moves in HI were so similar they were barely different. Plus, after the first year of Neo, basically every monster released had a move unique to them.
Something I miss is basic attacks being actually useful moves, though

BGC (Bungee Gum Clan) is a new clan, born on Discord, whose founding principle is spamming everywhere possible about the properties of Bungee Gum. They donāt know limits to the spam, and that makes them dangerous.
If Jar Jar Binks was a Neo Monsters clan, itād be BGC.
